This Saturday, October 29th the Titan Pride Marching Band traveled to Independence Kansas for the Neewollah Marching Festival. While there, they competed in both parade and field show category. This year, for the first time ever, they received a “1” or Superior Rating for their field show performance, including “1” ratings for Colorguard, Drumline, Music Performance, Marching and Overall show design. They competed with over thirty bands from across Kansas and Missouri. This score represents countless hours of hard work and commitment on the part of our students.
LarVonte Owens ran a course PR by 31 seconds at the Cross Country State Championships in Lawrence, KS on Saturday with a time of 17:49! Congrats on a great finish to the season, Te!
The cross country team competed at Regionals this past Saturday at Cessna Activity Center. LarVonte Owens qualified for state as individual by running a personal best time of 17:05 and placing 16th overall. He is one of only 5 individual qualifiers from our region. Te will compete this Saturday at Rim Rock in Lawrence. Congratulate him and wish him luck! Six other runners also ran personal best times last Saturday: Michala Mata, Abby Martin, Kyle Silmon, Brianna Escoto, Riley Brotherton & Daegiona Wilson.
The South High Freshman Volleyball team took 3rd at the North High Tournament on October 8. They played well in pool play taking second and finished out their day with 3rd overall. Way to play as a team ladies!
The cross country team competed at Winfield last night. The highlight of the evening was Larvonte Owens placing 10th and Ryan Loesing placing 15th in the boys varsity race, both earning medals. Franklin Campos, Abby Martin, Brianna Escoto, Riley Brotherton, Justin Miranda, Austin Ellis, and Cody Silmon all ran personal best times. Seven more runners ran season bests. Their next race is at El Dorado Lake a week from Saturday.
The cross country team competed at KU’s cross country course outside of Lawrence, Ks on Saturday. Six runners raced Rim Rock for the first time! Seven runners ran personal best times on the difficult and hilly course. Franklin Campos had the largest margin of improvement. He ran 2 minutes and 14 seconds faster than last year! Congrats, Franklin! The cross country team will compete in Winfield this Thursday.
